Memorial Day is the day when we in the U.S. remember those members of our armed forces who gave their lives in the cause of freedom. Many take this day as one to remember all veterans; and, while not technically correct I certainly won’t discount any tribute to those who spent time in the service of the nation.
In that spirit, I wish to call out two companies, the leaderships of which have taken special effort in recruiting veterans.
- I mentioned Amazon briefly in a recent Saturday Summary. Amazon looks to vets to work in their distribution centers because vets have the training and experience needed to work in a fast-paced environment, can think on their feet and know how to work with a team.
- I know someone who does recruiting for Aon – an international risk-management and insurance group with many offices in the U.S. They specifically recruit veterans for much the same reasons as Amazon. Check out the video he shared with me below:
