A Good Reason To Get Help With Your Social Media Plan

If you’re working in a corporate environment, chances are you wear more than one hat. Regardless of which department you work in, IS or Marketing, if you work with the web effort you probably do many things. All those tasks take time and that makes your time slip away very quickly. That is a good reason to get help with your social media plan: to save time.

We’ve been discussing social media among our Marketing and IT folks for a while now. While we all agreed we need to get involved in social media channels, what we couldn’t fully agree on what how to get started. That’s where outside help came in very handy.

We scheduled a “summit” meeting with people working for the company who helps us with some of our web marketing and the people from our PR firm. Those two groups combined with our marketing and IT experts made up a dream team of social media, marketing and PR expertise. “Summit” is an apt choice to describe this meeting, not only because it was a momentous event; but, because we met on the top floor of one of Dallas’ taller buildings with a spectacular view of the city.

Let’s face it, no matter what kind of “expert” you are in any subject, you can still learn from others. That is a good reason to get help with your social media plan: to get great ideas.

The best thing about having outside people participating in our brain-storming session was that everyone could toss in suggestions and ideas based on their individual experiences in the social space. All of us were experienced in one way or another in different platforms, different spaces and different methods of interacting on line. Each of us had something to contribute, so the end result was much greater than if any one of the three groups had worked out a plan alone.

Don’t be afraid to reach out and get some assistance when working on any facet of your web marketing. You will very likely get better results for your efforts when you seek out new and different ideas from others with experiences outside your box.
